Sorry guys, I realize there is blame to go all around with the o-line stinking up the house, but good QB's find a way to get the ball to good receivers. Also good QB's can throw on the run and "make" things happen. Stafford plays weak. Period. The play calling was very weak also. (so there is some blame there). Teams are simply going to watch the 49er game tape (the way the Falcons did) and take Calvin out of it, and rush Stafford...(he can't scramble)...Sooooooooooooo, do the math. Without a stronger o-line and a power running back, we aren't going much further this year... :wallbash: BUT! I am excited about next years possibilities! We will have a better run game, and hopefully Stafford will have amassed some more knowledge of the game and how it needs to be played when things aren't perfect. Perhaps he can watch Rodgers play? Anyways, I am very disappointed in the last 2 weeks offensive play.

Really? The same Rodgers that accounted 46 yards and an interception in almost a full half of football when he played the Lions last season and faced some pressure for a change?

Maybe you meant Tom Brady. The same Brady we saw in preseason game 3 looking like he wanted to cry playing under the duress he endured.

Jay Cutler made some rare nice throws under major heat on MNF against us.

Tons of QBs, including some great ones look pretty shaky when under relentless pressure. It's the nuts and bolts of what our own defense is based on for God's sake. So to say that when an opponent does essentially, the same thing that we do to them that our QB is supposed to be even better than some of the great ones is a pretty far fetched notion, my friend.

Do you ever watch other teams play?...I saw the game from last year that you refer to. The only reason we won was because Rodgers got taken out of that game. I watch every football team game every week on Directv...I hate the Packers with a PASSION but, I have to tip my hat to Rodgers because he keeps getting better. He is ALOT better this year. I am sure (or I sure hope) that Stafford does the same, but, right now he looks like horse squeeze. You mentioned Brady?...Yes, he too like Rodgers is very good and finds ways to make things happen. The pre-season game doesn't count for much because, it was just that> pre-season. If we played them at their house right now we would lose. I am not stupid. I have been watching and playing a long time. Stafford when protected does very well, but most qbs do when they have time. Stafford didn't look like he learned anything from the 49er game...He holds the ball too long...He has a strong arm, and he has ALOT of potential, but he really needs to study game tapes more, and see how ridiculous he looks out there some times. How many times have you seen Brady look bad 2 weeks in a row?...guess what?..."never". He learns from his mistakes and improves...I didn't see that in the Falcon game. Rodgers ripped apart the Falcons at their house in Atlanta in the second half...(he learned from the first half). Being a life long die hard Lions fan, I don't have much choice but to wait (again) for Stafford (or some other QB) to finally be our saviour...But right now Stafford looks weak and out of rhythem. Some of it is crappy play calling, but most of it is Stafford stinking it up. I don't know how much longer our D can keep holding us in games before they tire of his sissy antics. He needs to snap out of it and grab the bull by the horns and move his team down the dad gum field! Haven't you watched him lately?...even when he's got time he's over throwing, throwing to the right, or hitting the ground in front of the receivers. I wish there were some other way to put this, but I simply can't...he sucks right now. :shake:

What you're saying is that you expect more out of him. Everybody does, including his coach (who has gone on record saying as much). He's a pocket passer that doesn't have much of a pocket lately. Everything is impacted by that. Maybe now that the wins and losses really, really matter, the direction from the coaches is more about ball security and "efficient" plays. Maybe they've tried to reduce the "gunslinger" attitude he had showed in his first few games.

I believe you are 100% correct. He has been playing "gun-shy" for the last 3 games...I did notice that big time. I've been trying to figure out what the correct ratio would be as far as play-calling to player deficiency (error)...I've come up with a ratio of about 40% player to 60% stratagy and/or play-calling. By playing "too safe", they are taking themselves out of tight, well fought games.
