Dare I say it? I truly feel that this line, this season, has shell shocked what many of us thought was our answer at QB. For 2 consecutive weeks I've watched Stafford face a respectable front 7, and for 2 weeks in a row look shell shocked. Again, I'm sick. I don't expect him to stay clean all game, but I can see him rushing now ... feeling pressure that isn't there ... why? Because he doesn't trust Backus and company. Why name out Backus? He plays the most important position and is the veteran leader (along with Areola).

I really hope that Linehan can mastermind something that will alleviate this kid's perceived pressure in the midst of the real pressure he feels in the midst of Backus' blown blocks, and Peterman's belly bumps.

Do we care to run the ball? Don't even get me started. Barry couldn't have run behind these jokers. These guys line up, grab the guy in front of them, watch for the running back to approach, and let go. It almost seems scripted.

Sorry fanatics, but I'm so pissed I could spit teeth. This was a very beatable opponent this week, and the Lions, not to sound cliche, looked like the "same old group". I don't buy into that crap, but it at least with regard to the offensive line looked like the same crap, which will ultimately lead to the destruction of another quarterback.

There is no salvation. This unit looked good in the early part of the season because Stafford slung balls out to Megatron, and caught defenses sleeping.

The offense's weakness (the line) has been exposed, and runs are stuffed and the quarterback is harassed regularly now. To the point that he's losing some of his own confidence.

I used to stick up for Backus. He looked like a weak old man the past two weeks. It's time to move on.

Unfortunately, there is no moving on now ... the trade deadline is passed, and the chance to make an impact by a big trade for a stud on the left side has passed.

This team might still eek out a wild card, but look forward to the draft ... until they can block well enough to keep defenses honest, there will be little noise made.

I completely agree. I have been watching Backus and calling him out all year long. I HATE him. I also HATE chris houston, he is ALWAYS getting burnt or making mistakes. He has a few good plays here and there and seems to be around the ball in the run game, but he isnt a good player. Other teams know it too.

What i really dont understand is Backus was getting crushed all game and ONE play they put Will Heller in the backfield for extra help, and it worked. Stafford threw a completed pass right on the money. They didnt do it again. Makes no sense and i dont think Scott Linehan isnt being aggressive at all. We honestly had no business winning that game with the way we played. Im disgusted beyond belief.

THe competition is getting stiffer. We see clearly that any team with a dominating pass rush and running game will cause the lions a lot of grief. Couple that with our average OL and that spells defeat. 10-6 or 9-7 if we somehow shore up the running game. But its improvement...Now we need a couple of studs on the OL. Then we will be a dominant team.

I tried keeping my head today. It was hard... still kinda suffering. Worse yet, just like last week, there's no good football tonight or tomorrow to help alleviate the sick feeling.

I was thinking during the game how interesting the team would be if they had tried to develop as dominant an offensive line as they did defensive line.

At this point, I don't know what's good or what's bad. Is it scheme or a player or players?

I think their next move, looking at the roster, is to bring Fox in at LT. I think they have the pectoral injury to fall back on as reasoning, plus he's a salty old veteran that isn't going to be shaken too bad by getting pulled. (Unlike them benching Cherilus, which blew up in their face against Minny when they tried to bring him back.)

Chris Houston is ALWAYS getting burned hugh?? how did you come up with this Nugget?

The Roddy White TD? where Roddy pushed off? Here is the quote from houston after the game.White had five catches for 52 yards, but three of those came when Aaron Berry defended him. The one play Houston wants back is the 18-yard TD pass White beat him on. Houston complained to the official he was interfered with on the play.

"When he came through, he pulled my whole face mask down, that's why I was behind him," Houston said. "And I went to the ref and I was like, 'Did you just see him pull my facemask?'

"He was like, 'No, I'm looking for you to get hands to his facemask.' I'm like, it goes both ways. I jammed him, and for him to get through he pulled my whole head down. That's why he was so far ahead of me."

From The Detroit News: http://detnews.com/a...m#ixzz1betYfwji

Houston has been a nice bright spot to the secondary. He has limited his guy to minimal catches each week. The kid is strong as heck for his weight. He is not the problem. This pass rush is too inconsistent.

So let me get this straight. Just because he said the reason he got burnt was White pulled his facemask means he is good? Do you watch these games? I have watched every single game and wish i had a recorded version of them all to show you the tapes. Today he gave up too many plays, period.

A WR like Roddy White who some claim is in the same class as our very own Megatron is gonna get some catches and is gonna make some plays. He had 5 -52 and a very glaring TD but jesus every big time WR is gonna have a big play where he beats the CB. But I believe what Chris said...I saw him talking to the ref after the play. And yes I watch the games. I GO TO EVERY HOME GAME. And watch every road game closely. And I know for a fact Chris Houston is a "good player". He has 3 int's 35 tackles 8 Pd in 7 games . Those are very good numbers for not even half of a season. The guy is our best CB period. If he misses next week due to his bad back. You will see how much we need him. :colbert:
