Alex Lewis Penciled In As Starter

Detroit Lions

Alex Lewis tackles Michael Vick.

According to a source close to the team, linebacker Alex Lewis is penciled in as starting outside linebacker.

Teddy Lehman and Boss Bailey are scheduled to fill the other two positions. Restricted free agent James Davis appears to be the odd man out. While this may only be due to Davis’ free agent status, it is an interesting development.

Alex Lewis has only started two games in the past two seasons for the Lions. Lewis’ best game came in against Houston in the 2004 season, recording a career high 8.

Physically, Alex Lewis is similar in build to Rod Marinelli's former Buccaneer linebackers. The key question is if he will look like them in the new defensive system.
